True Heroism
By Etimbuk Inyang (MBA)
The true hero
Is not the man cheered on every street
And fed in every home.
The true hero stands in the rain
While all else scamper for shelter.
The true hero
Is not One adorned with accolades and medals
And who loves to tarry where there is much feasting.
The true hero is the man of nobility,
Forgotten by his people.
The true hero
Is not One who dances to every song
And given to many words.
The true hero is not one with the purest garment
But he knows the pains of yesterday and the price of tomorrow.
The true hero
Is not like beauty that fades
Or like the dew that is only for a moment.
The true hero is not he that lingers in the safety of the Ranch
Or he that betrays truth.
The true hero's flame lives on,
When the multitudes are drenched in sleep.
The true hero is he that endures adversity
And knows what the world in all their knowing,
Cannot know.
